Maggie Downing M.Ed., L.M.H.C.
I have thirty five years of clinical experience working with adults, teens and children of all ages. If you are coping with anxiety, depression, grief, parenting concerns or a life transition, I believe my warm and practical approach can help.
My style is to collaborate with my clients to help them identify goals that align with what is most important to them. Recognizing that gained insight is an important part of the process, I have found that people often want to also develop specific skills in order to live a more fulfilling life. Drawing on specific training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Mindful Self-Compassion and Collaborative Problem Solving, I often develop specifically tailored homework. I have found that an active engagement in the healing process between sessions can serve to deepen and integrate all that is learned in our meetings. I work closely with my clients to help them move through whatever may be getting in the way of fully embracing their lives.
In my free time I love gardening, kayaking, and hanging out with my granddaughter. I am an amateur photographer, who enjoys playing with paint.
